Ernest Race "DA1" Arm chair for Race Furniture c1946 - England

Lightweight welded steel rod frame with stove enamelled aluminium legs & coil sprung seat, newly re-upholstered in chinchilla & slate grey fabric.

War surplus steel rod was used for the structure of these chairs. After 1948 the original aluminium legs and sprung loose seat were replaced with wooden legs and traditional upholstery. This is a First Production example retaining its internal frame and sprung under seat.
